In this episode, I explore the complexities of societal development and the fragile mechanisms behind progress. The narrative contrasts Finland’s rise from post-war devastation into a highly functional society with Portugal’s decline despite its imperial past, underscoring the decisive role of institutional integrity and social cohesion.
The episode then introduces “self-correcting mechanisms” in democracy, likened to the brain’s ability to learn from error, and argues for a transition from punitive justice to institutional responsibility and preventative structures across social systems.
Finally, I present Wisdorise as a dynamic process of collective wisdom creation through critical dialogue and the re-examination of fundamental concepts. Sustainable progress, I argue, can only emerge through the integration of individual, cultural, and institutional growth—a principle embodied in the evolving project of the European Union.
